BirdSafe Homes

It is estimated that hundreds of millions of birds die every year by flying into windows. They mistake the reflection in the glass as real space through which they can fly. Special bird-strike reducing decals can help somewhat when applied to the outside of windows. A product called BirdTape, available through the American Bird Conservancy, works well, as do special screens you can attach to the outside of the window via suction cups.
For more information on preventing window strikes, please visit Audubon Minnesota's BirdSafe page, or download a flyer on how to prevent birds from flying into your windows by clicking here. |

Fall LIGHTS OUT starts August 15th! Dim the lights and brighten the future! Birds can be drawn off course by bright lights in our cities. By turning off unnecessary lights after midnight we can save money, energy and migrating birds. Click here to learn more. If you are interested in getting involved in a Lights Out program in Duluth, please email us. |
